Afrobase
Afrobase plays tropical rhythms, afrojazzy re-rubs, and rare vinyl originals. This 2 hour afro-latin funk-friendly show plays tracks still to be released, some just found, and some too good to be lost! Over the last few years it has been presented by music maniacs and crate sifters John Warr, Guy Morley (Big Chill), Miles Cleret (Soundway Records), and Rita Ray (Synchro Sound System). Now into its 4th year, John continues to present the programme every week along with special guests.

dj profile |
John Warr
Since the start of the 80s, John has worked with African and Latin music in clubs and on radio. He formed Ashanti with Martin Sinnock (also on Totally Radio), and promoted the long standing weekly club The Salsa Party with friends. In 2002 he got together with Guy Morley to create AfroBase, and Miles Cleret soon joined them. With a never ending enthusiasm for collecting music from the African diaspora, and a strong leaning towards contemporary fusions, John enjoys the meeting of musical cultures unbound by traditions.
