the
spirit of gravity
a Brighton based collective of electronica musicians
promoting monthly shows. Events
focus on bringing together new, emerging and established
talent to perform their work live. Challenging artists
perform alongside rip-roaring good-time beat-mongers
and mellow-yellow soundscapers.

Chris Cook
has been making
electronic music since moving to Brighton in 1999. As
Remote his energetic
live sets saw him play sitar, dulcimer, guitar and
stylophone alongside
his breakbeat mutations. 2003 saw
a change of name to Hot
Roddy Ramshaw
and more ambient gigs that involved MAX MSP sound collages
of Cook's various stringed instruments.
Lee Hume
Previously a vocalist with Duplo (Coastline
Records) and Scout, Lee now focuses on writing
melodic electronics. Lee started Rashamon in 2001 and
is now joined by Seb Wyatt on FX-laden guitar and by
Michael Huggett on MS10 & bass. Influenced by Tortoise,
Grand Master Flash, New Order and Miles Davis, they
jam and spread some kind of noise over toast,
captured on "Tomorrow, People" and
"Windo Loca" (HighPoint
LowLife).
Nick Rilke
A
co-founder of The Spirit of Gravity
Collective and a performance artist of over
10 years standing. Rilke has worked in a variety of
media (live art, music, film, radio) as part of the
Brighton-based art group Maphead.
Performing as Malevich, with Tony
Rimbaud, Rilke combines samples, synths,
spoken word, live instruments and turntablism.
