* brother phil
Brother Phil began DJing roots and culture
reggae music on campus radio at
university in 1986. A love of the
music led Phil to start playing at clubs and
parties in and around the Brighton area. In 1989 he joined
local sound system King Tafari Love, serving his apprenticeship
moving the speakers, before becoming the operator/sound
engineer.
Phil
teamed up with Ben
(Good Vibes Hi Fi) to build a new
sound system - the Good Vibes Uprising, which
played regularly in London and the South coast of England
for the next few years, as well as festivals around the
country. Due to artistic differences one sound system
became two and Phil's is now known as Uprising.
In
2002 Phil linked up with long time friend Jon and became
part of the Roots Garden Crew. Other radio work includes
his show 'Culture Shock', which broadcast on various
community stations including Fesival Radio.
