*Outside
Playing music by the misunderstood, the mistaken, the lunatic, the occasionally crazy, the non-human, the vegetable, the animal, the mineral, the criminal, the hard to like, the dispossessed, the so angry they no longer make sense, the terminally unhappy, the naive, the
over-professional, the shut out, the visionary, the unfashionable, the
weird, the loopy, the lonely, the very very old, the very very young, the foreign, the strange, the unique, the other, the out there, the inhibited,
the in-between, the acid-washed, the mechanical, the distorted, the quiet,
the innocent, the spectral, the astral, the offensive, the shy, the
amateur, and above all, the different.
Genres tend to limit, the point of Outside is to include everything that
tends to get excluded WHILST REMAINING LISTENABLE. The show will often be
challenging but I want as many people as possible to enjoy it so I will I
endeavour to make it a strange pleasure to listen to, not a festival of
harsh ear weirdness.
Because I am contrary by nature I will often include songs that challenge
the boundaries of this genre - partly to piss off the people who would
police boundaries but also to include songs and sounds that I think are
wonderful and want you to hear.
Of all mediums I think music is the most precious because it can make you
go from feeling bad to feeling good the quickest.
This show is nothing without listeners and the sooner you contact me to let
me know your thoughts and desires the better we can custom tailor it to
your heart. |

Toby Amies
Toby Amies is a professional bohemian and gentleman adventurer. Generally
he makes films and photographs. He's been involved in music for centuries as a member of several bands, as a DJ in nightclubs of wildly varying types
and quality and as a broadcaster [mtv, HBO, Film Four, Radio 4, BBC 2, BBC
4, Lonely Planet]. His website with out of date records of his activities
is www.tobyamies.com
At some stage I might be playing records by Skip Spence, Kool Keith, Syd
Barret, Sun Ra, Roland Kirk, Redd Holt, Romanthony, Daniel Johnston, Hasil Adkins, Moondog, The Space Lady, Captain Beefheart, The Viennese Vegetable
Orchestra, Eilart Pilarm, Yves Klein, Marcel Duchamp, Calvin Johnson,
Maskull, Joe Meek, Daniel Padden, Andre Williams, Doo Rag, but that's not
really the point, come listen and you will SEE.
