The late 1970s/early 1980s was a spectacularly creative time for the music of Zaïre in Central Africa. Dindo Yogo was one of the most distinctive and articulate singer /composers and in the second of our series looking at his career we hear examples of his work with Papa Wemba’s Viva la Musica and also the group Langa Langa Stars. Absolutely amazing guitars in this edition!

Djo Mpoyi is best known for his work with OK Jazz but also recorded with the groups Saka Yonsa, Empompo Loway’s Tiers Monde, Kara de Kinshasa and Verckys’ Orchestre Veve. We close on the wonderful final song Djo recorded before his sad death in 1993 aged 39.
