More Excellent music coming out of Germany this week in the shape of Flashbaxx with their ep - " Changing Tides", the mysteriously titled "Bangers and Jass" serve up a nice slice of Brazilian dancefloor bizniss, show regular and favourite Pharoah Sanders delivers a beautiful piece of soulful jazz and lovely obscurwe vocals from Potter & Tillman.

02-may-08 morning glory
Amazing to think that when Portishead last graced our speakers with a studio album a fresh faced Tony Blair had just taken power, Princess Di sadly pegged it in a car in Paris, and Katrina & The Waves won the Eurovision Song Contest for the UK, oh the memories! Still, 11 long years later and they're back with a stunning new opus which we're featuring on this week's show. Add to that new music from Fleet Foxes, White Williams, Adem and even Nine Inch Nails, et voila, another sterling Morning Glory.

02-may-08 future rocknroll
It seems to be unofficial Twisted pop week over at FR&R Show Towers, with a career best Metronomy mix of the rather good Lykke Li, plus loads of unsigned action from Panther DLX, Madame Min and To Shades. There’s also some banging dance from Riton, KIM and The Horrors remixing Digitalism, bizarrely.

02-may-08 afrobase
To celebrate James Brown’s birthday on 3rd May (born the same year as Manu Dibango in 1933), John is joined by special guest soul brother Arran E (Boombastic, AfroBase, and www.rootdownfm.com). This show pays tribute to the influence of the godfather of soul on the music of the African diaspora and vice versa. With plenty of rare vinyl from Arran’s soul vaults and John’s afro archives, with much left unplayed ready for another show later!
